Science dance contest
Non c'è modo più efficace per trasmettere ed apprendere un concetto della rappresentazione visiva, anche quando si tratta di argomenti complessi come quelli scientifici*, soprattutto quando si tratta di una rappresentazione artistica e ancora meglio se è piacevole o divertente.
Due ottimi esempi sono i progetti "Dance your PhD" e "Science Dance", di cui vi posto un paio di video. Spero vi piacciano, in futuro ne posterò degli altri.
* Non a caso, alcune fra le più brillanti menti della scienza erano in grado di immaginarsi visivamente i fenomeni che studiavano; un esempio notevole sono il fisico Richard Feynman ed i diagrammi che portano il suo nome, da lui concepiti per rappresentare le interazioni fra particelle subatomiche -- ma qui si tratta di veri e propri strumenti scientifici, non di disegni divulgativi.
There is no better way to divulge and learn concepts than a visual representation, even if it's a complex scientific topic*, especially with arts and even better if it's an entertaining or funny one.
Great examples are the two projects "Dance your PhD" and "Science Dance", of which I am posting a couple of videos. Hope you'll enjoy them, I'll post more in the future.
* It's not a coincidence that some of the most brilliant scientific minds were capable of thinking visually the phenomena that they were studying; famous examples are physicist Richard Feynman and the diagrams named after him, which he conceived to represent the interactions between subatomic particles -- though these are scientific tools, not just divulgative drawings.
Gli animali marini percepiscono la presenza di potenziali prede o possibili predatori dalle turbolenze nell'acqua grazie ad antenne e vibrisse, cosa che è estremamente utile soprattutto al buio. Personaggi principali (in ordine di apparizione): la foca, le aragoste e lo squalo.
Marine animals detect from water turbulence the presence of potential preys or possible predators thanks to antennae and whiskers, which is especially helpful under low-light conditions. Main characters (in order of apparition): the seal, the lobsters and the shark.
L'emoglobina è la responsabile del trasporto dell'ossigeno nel sangue. La sua attività però cambia a seconda di come l'ossigeno si lega alle due coppie di sottounità che la costituiscono.
Hemoglobin is responsible for the transportation of oxygen in blood. Its activity changes depending on how oxygen binds to the two pairs of subunits which hemoglobin is made of.

Dopo essermi imbattuta in questo test per l'ennesima volta, ho deciso che a questo punto non posso non postarlo.
Scoprite la vostra abilità nel distinguere le sfumature di colore! Mi dicono che questo test funzioni meglio con lo schermo del pc fisso che con quello portatile.
Il test è stato elaborato dalla X-Rite, azienda produttrice di strumenti di misurazione e calibrazione del colore, con la quale una volta stavo quasi per fare un progetto di sviluppo di uno standard di colore da usare com lo stereomicroscopio.

Find out your ability to distinguish little colour variations! I've heard that this test works best with a desktop screen, rather than with a laptop screen.
The test has been designed by X-Rite, a company that produces colour measurement and calibration instruments; a few years ago I nearly started a project with them, on the development of a colour standard for stereomicroscopes.
